AM: 3.5mile walk with the 47.5lb backpack.

9.5 mile run/walk, same strategy, walk uphill, run flats and downhills, 5.5miles of run.  Teh spouse kicked ass.

2/7/2016

5 mile walk with the 47.5lb backpack.

So, that gives me 27.5 miles for the week.  And we start again.  I can't say that I dominated this week, but, I finished it and I'm okay with going at it again.  Tuesday's workout was a big bite and I was really sore on Thursday.  Saturday was a lot harder this time then last.  Some of that might have been the icy and snowy conditions.  I think I also didn't manage my calories correctly.

AM: Ran/walked 3.2 miles.  Fairly dark with the moon waning.  Also really warm, 34 F, it is supposed to be like that all week.

I think I'll increase the backpack weight by a mere 2.5lbs.  Try to hit that T,W,Th, this week.  Also, I think it is time to reset the dread-mill workouts.   Put the vest on and run .25 mile intervals with a intermixed exercises, perhaps, knees-to-elbows/good-mornings, push up burpee to jumping pull up, and finally cleans, try to do three miles that way.  Just can't stand the dread-mill tedium.  If I take Friday, off, that will give a weekday mileage of 21.8.

Weekend Update 1/31

Saturday was a complete bust so far as milage.

Sunday, we followed a different route.  Google Pedometer shows it at 7 miles, teh Spouse's pedometer, 8 miles.  I think we can split the difference and say 7.5 miles.  We followed the same protocol running on level and downhill, walk uphill.  This route offered a long run at the start.  Pretty pleased with how well this strategy is working.  Teh Spouse is changing her mind about running and even seems a little eager.

1/28/2016

Noon:  3 mile dreadmill run, 4.8 mph.

I am wondering if the treadmill itself is a problem.  I found on Saturday that despite or perhaps because of the challenge of distance, temperature, and intensity, I was engaged and interested.  Running 3-4 miles on a treadmill is a real drudgery sometimes.

I'm wondering if it would be better to go back to my dread-mill intervals then continue trying to force skull numbing distance out of it.  With two-a-days I still would be getting 5-6 miles.  And I wouldn't be fighting boredom so much.
